Aguila Blanca / Bald Eagle

A saw a great picture of a Bald Eagle and decided to do a quick illustration with markers and some details with Liquid Paper. I liked the end result.

Encontré una muy buena foto de una Águila Calva y decidí hacer una rápida ilustración con plumones y unos cuantos detalles con corrector blanco. Me agradó el resultado.

Tribal Girl / Chica Nativa

And Illo I did not so long ago on my spare time (I don't have many of those, haha) on a sexy tribal blond girl. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Una ilustración que hice no hace mucho en mis tiempos libres (no tengo muchos de esos, jiji) sobre una nativa chica rubia sexy. Espero les agrade.

This is an image I did for a jigsaw that is now out on sale at Wal-Mart's Prichos shops in Mexico.

LOVELY CHRISTINA

I was watching some black & white images and got inspired to do the same and see what happened if I added just a touch of color, very subtle, to create a retro effect, kind of classic, which I really enjoyed.

Done with markers and prismacolor.

Estaba biendo algunas imagenes en blanco & negro y me inspiraron a hacer lo mismo y ver que pasaba sí agregaba un toque de color, muy sutil, para así crear un efecto retro, algo clásico, lo cual difruté mucho.

Realizado con plumones y prismacolor.

1001 ARABIAN NIGHTS

The story tells that the sultan Shahriar chose every day a new virgin to be his wife and sent to decapitate the one from the day before all because of the spite for the treason of his first wife, and so, after killing 3000 women is that he met Scheherezade.

On the evening of that same day, Scheherezade told him a marvelous tale that lasted all night, and in the morning, when she had finished, the sultan asked for another story but cunningly enough she said that there was no time for more because it was dawn already, so he spare her life, because the tale to come seemed even more wonderful.

And so it was that the storyteller Scheherezade, full of grace, cunning and gentleness saved her life and after 1001 nights of many different adventures and three sons of the sultan she became queen also achieving wisely to teach morality and kindness to Shahriar.

La historia cuenta que el sultán Shahriar desposaba a una mujer virgen cada día y mandaba decapitar a la esposa del día anterior por despecho a la traición de su primer esposa y así, después de matar a 3000 mujeres conoció a Scheherezada.

En la velada de aquel día Scheherezada le relató una historia maravillosa durante toda la noche, al amanecer, cuando había terminado, el sultán pidió por otro relato pero astutamente ella le dijo que ya no había tiempo pues ya estaba amaneciendo, de modo que el le perdonó la vida, pues la historia por venir parecía mucho más interesante.

Así la cuentacuentos Scheherezada, llena de gracia, astucia y dulzura conservó su vida y después de 1001 noches de diversas aventuras y con tres hijos del sultán se convirtió en su reina logrando también educar sabiamente en moralidad y amabilidad a Shahriar.

STAR WARS SITH

I did this piece a few of years ago for some friends' official Star Wars website. When I was told of the idea I thought: Why making a S.T. character already known? Lets make something new, so I designed this sexy Sith chic, which it was tons more fun to do. :) Colors by: Tonatiuh Rocha.

Realicé esta pieza hace un algunos de años para una página de oficial de Internet de Star Wars de unos amigos. Cuando me dijeron de la idea, pensé: ¿Por qué hacer un personaje de S.T. ya conocido? Mejor hagamos algo nuevo, así que diseñé a esta sexy chica Sith, lo cual fue mucho más divertido de hacer.

SYMETRY

This is an Illo I did as a gift on my 2007 Christmas vacation for my best friend's family business (which is like a second family to me), celebrating their 10th. anniversary as a company.

In there you can see all the members of the family and the company's collaborators:

-Daniel, my best friend with the light-saber. -His father with the Mickey hat along with mrs. entertaining their granddaughter. -His older brother with the cast on his foot and the blue vampire face... don't ask why! -And his younger, brother sitting there playing chess by himself.


Esta es una ilustración que hice durante las vacaciones de Navidad del 2007 cómo regalo para la familia de mi mejor amigo (quienes son como mi segunda famila), celebrando el 10mo. aniversario de su empresa.

En ella pueden ver a todos lo miembros de la familia y a el equipo de la empresa:

-Daniel, mi mejor amigo está con el sable the luz.
-Su papá con el sombrero de Mickey junto a su esposa entreteniendo a su nieta.
-Su hermano mayor con el pie roto y la cara de vampiro azul... ¡no pregunten por qué!
-Y su hermano menor, sentado jugando ajedrez consigomismo.

One of my firsts watercolor ever done way back in Collage of my favorite superhero of all time, Superman, this one's from 1998. Done with watercolors, ink and gouache.

Una de mis primeras acuarelas de la época de la Universidad sobre Supermán, mi superhéroe favorito. Realizada en acuarela, tinta y gouache.

I did this illo of Mickey as a special gift for a friend of mine back in College, I tried lo give it a sketchy look as too be coherent with Cave-Mouse Era.

Hice esta ilustración de Mickey para una amiga en la época de la Universidad,traté de darle una sensación bocetada para que tuviera coherencia con la Era del Ratón de las Cavernas.

A watercolor I did back in College of Mr. Spock, the classical T.V. character from Star Trek.

Una acuarela que hice en la Universidad de el personaje clásico de la serie de T.V. Star Trek: el Sr. Spock. 

FAN ART

Next, a series of characters that I've always liked as a good comic book fan, I tried to experiment a bit on the techniques but while maintaining the classic appearance in each of them and see what happened in the process.

A continuación, una serie de personajes que siempre me han agradado como buen fan de los cómics, traté de experimentar un poco en las técnicas pero manteniendola apariencia clásica de cada uno y viendo que pasaba en el proceso.

For this I started by coloring the entire page and then applying ink and gouache.

Another piece from one of my favorites sketch books, I really enjoyed doing this piece, I think those flowers give it a great dressing touch.

Otra de la piezas de uno de mis cuadernos de sketches favoritos, realmente disfruté haciendo esta pieza, creo que esas flores, le dan un buentoque para acompañar.

LEMON FORREST GUMP

This is a peace I did back in college of one of my favorite movies of all time: Forrest Gump, I did it with a technique I learned using only lemon juice applied with brush and a lighter... yeah, I mean fire, crazy, eh?!

Esta es una pieza que hice en la universidad de una de mis películas favoritas: Forrest Gump, fué realizada con una técnica que aprendí usando unicamente jugo de limón aplicado con pincel y un encendedor... ¡Sí,con fuego, que loco ¿no?!

This are two proposal illos I did for Sony Pictures to promote Christmas Dvd's new releases during 2005, but they never used them... great mistake. :P

WALT DISNEY / READER'S DIGEST

This is the illustration Reader's Digest magazine picked to be printed of the great hero-of-all: Walt Disney.

I believe that some of the runner ups i did were better than the one that was selected, what do you think?. They insisted, though, that they didn't wanted something that reminded them of any of Disney's characters so they wouldn't have any licence issues... sooo, c'est la vie. I still liked the winner, published in the 2008 November edition, so check it out!

Este es la ilustración que la revista Reader's Digest escogió para imprimir sobre el héroe-de-todos: Walt Disney.

Creo que algunas de mis propuestas eran mejores que la que fue seleccionada, pero suele pasar. Ellos  no deseaban algo que les recordara a ninguno de los personajes de Disney por no infringir ninguna licencia con ello, así que... c'est la vie. De cualquier manera me gustó el ganador, publicado en la edición de Noviembre del 2008, ¡Así que chéquenla!

BLOODY MARY

Halloween is a very mysterious and magical time of the year in wich we can fantasize with all those monsters and the next life's beings that frighten us so much as kids... thought we can also have some fun and spend a great time and enjoy some creepy tales too, hee-hee :D

The idea for this piece came to me while I was doing the storyboard for a new Palomitas Country comic strip with a special Halloween subject, try the link so you all can check it out.

The illo was done with ink, markers, gouache and prismacolor.

Halloween es una época misteriosa y llena de magia en la cual podemos fantasear con todos aquellos monstruos y seres de ultratumba que nos asustan tanto en nuestra juventud... aunque también podemos divertirnos con ellos para pasar un genial rato y disfrutar de algunas historias espeluznantes también, je-je. :D

La idea para esta pieza se me ocurrió mientras realizaba el storyboard para una nueva tira cómica de Palomitas Country con tema especial de Halloween, aquí les dejo el link para que puedan checarla.

La ilustración fue realizada con tinta china, plumones, gouache y prismacolor.

UNDER-WATER MAIDEN

I needed a little warm up before I started to work on a personal project I'm developing, so I grabbed my sketch book to see what happened... Next thing I knew is that I was really enjoying this sketch so I kept going until I was finished.

Necesitaba un poco de calentamiento antes de empesar a trabajar en un proyecto personal que estoy desarrollando, así que tomé mi cuaderno de sketches para ver que sucedia... Lo próximo que supe fue que realmente estaba disfrutando este sketch así que seguí dibujando hasta que lo terminé.

NUMB-TONGUE

Numb-Tongue is a huge, fat and evil monster who lives in damp, moisty and deep caves, he wraps and covers everything with his corrosive spittle, which can be very dangerous for many of his victims (specially the little Lintz creatures).

This is a small present (literally small, about 3.5 inches tall) I did for Jimena Sanchez, she likes monsters alot, and this was my contribution to her collection. I really enjoy developing monsters... It's were the fun begins!!!

Numb-Tongue es un monstruo grande, gordo y malvado que vive en cuevas muy humedas y profundas, envuelve y cubre todo con su baba corrosiva, la cual puede ser muy peligrosa muchas de sus victimas (principalmente a las pequeñas creaturitas Lintz).

Este es un pequeño regalo (literalmente pequeño, como de 9 cms. de alto) que realizé para Jimena Sanchez, le agradan mucho los monstruos y esta fue mi contribución a su colección. Disfruto mucho desarrollar monstruos... ¡¡¡Se pone muy interesante el asunto!!!

Mike Kunkel, animator and creator of the "Hero Bear and the Kid" comic book liked alot the finished art so I did an exchange of this original art with him for one of his, cool ha?

Hace algunos años hice un proyecto de dos págs. para el Estudio de una historia de Mauricio Cosio (esta es la pág. #2). El trabajo que realicé fue mucho del agrado de Mike Kunkel, animador y artista de comic creador de "Hero Bear and the Kid", por lo que hice un intercambio del arte original por uno de los suyos, que bien no?!

This is the toon-portrait I did of my best friend as a gift for him, he just loves basketball as much as me, we used to practice it every time we could since we where very young in school as we grew up... but I'm way better of a basketball player he he he. Enjoy it Dan!
