BRUCE LEE

This are some of the discarded sketches for an illustration of the great martial artist Bruce Lee for Reader's Digest back in 1998, and even though I like them both I have a preference for the portrait, I believe those lines that come out of the drawing give it a more loose and interesting effect. Don't you think?

Regards everybody!

This is another illo for Reader's Digest i did in collaboration with my friend Mauricio Cosío, who did the coloring part.

This artwork was published in april 2009, in Reader's Digest for Latin America, Tthe client commissioned it so it could appear on their Humor Annual issue.

HARRISON FORD

Well, this is a cartoon proposal I did for Reader's Digest Latin America. When I was doing this I realized that cartooning Harrison Ford is harder than what it seems, I had to try four times and failed, but there was a lucky 5th. :D I had a lot of fun doing this, sadly it wasn't elected at the end, because they needed something more simpler, sigh!

WALT DISNEY / READER'S DIGEST

This is the illustration Reader's Digest magazine picked to be printed of the great hero-of-all: Walt Disney.

I believe that some of the runner ups i did were better than the one that was selected, what do you think?. They insisted, though, that they didn't wanted something that reminded them of any of Disney's characters so they wouldn't have any licence issues... sooo, c'est la vie. I still liked the winner, published in the 2008 November edition, so check it out!

ELVIS PRESLEY

Well... The King. This is a study I did for Reader's Digest of Elvis. Dough it never really made it to be published I had a great time in the process of making the caricature, the hair, eyebrows chin where really fun.

Pues...

READER'S DIGEST

Steven Spielberg:

Here in ¡Ka-Boom! Estudio we been doing illustration work for Reader's Digest since the year 2006, it's been a great experience doing cartoons of our favorites celebrities and heroes such as the ones below. When the client first contacted us they asked for a test illo in order to check out our artistic techniques to to see if it matched their cartoon format, so I did a cartoon of Steven Spielberg which they really liked.

Here you can see some of them:
