UNDER-WATER MAIDEN

I needed a little warm up before I started to work on a personal project I'm developing, so I grabbed my sketch book to see what happened... Next thing I knew is that I was really enjoying this sketch so I kept going until I was finished.

Necesitaba un poco de calentamiento antes de empesar a trabajar en un proyecto personal que estoy desarrollando, así que tomé mi cuaderno de sketches para ver que sucedia... Lo próximo que supe fue que realmente estaba disfrutando este sketch así que seguí dibujando hasta que lo terminé.

NUMB-TONGUE

Numb-Tongue is a huge, fat and evil monster who lives in damp, moisty and deep caves, he wraps and covers everything with his corrosive spittle, which can be very dangerous for many of his victims (specially the little Lintz creatures).

This is a small present (literally small, about 3.5 inches tall) I did for Jimena Sanchez, she likes monsters alot, and this was my contribution to her collection. I really enjoy developing monsters... It's were the fun begins!!!

SPANISH:

Numb-Tongue es un monstruo grande, gordo y malvado que vive en cuevas muy humedas y profundas, envuelve y cubre todo con su baba corrosiva, la cual puede ser muy peligrosa muchas de sus victimas (principalmente a las pequeñas creaturitas Lintz).

Este es un pequeño regalo (literalmente pequeño, como de 9 cms. de alto) que realizé para Jimena Sanchez, le agradan mucho los monstruos y esta fue mi contribución a su colección. Disfruto mucho desarrollar monstruos... ¡¡¡Se pone muy interesante el asunto!!!

We are back to the ONEFA (National Organization of College Football) season here in Mexico City, in which I have to do the review on each week's games based on the comments of Aarón Soriano, sportscaster for ESPN.

This is a new challenge! Only this time we are not publishing on the "ESTO" news paper, this time is for the "TERRA" (news, sports & entertainment) official web page itself, and this time we are doing it in color which gives it a whole more interest to this weekly strip. I'm doing the art (pencil & inks) each Sunday or Monday to be ready for coloring by Mariana Moreno and lettering by Mauricio Cosío, all of this during for 12 weeks, while the football season lasted (great, huh?!). A difficult part is to adapt to the new format that "TERRA" requires for their home page, never the less this time I'm adding it more power to the scenes even tough the time for production it's very short.

I steel remember that on the end of the season of the second year (2006) we where invited to attend to the ONEFA awards ceremony, which were celebrated, amazingly enough, on the Queen Elizabeth School, my old school in which I hadn't been for 20 years. There we met all of the football stars that I drew for the comic strip and even got the pleasure to meet Mauricio López Tyson player for the NFL Centurions in Köln Germany, curiously enough, I was born there as well (ha, funny right?).

Estamos de regreso en la ONEFA (Organización Nacional Estudiantil de Futbol Americano), para el cual ilustro el resumen de los comentarios de Aarón Soriano, comentarista deportivo para ESPN.

Este esun nuevo reto, sólo que esta vez no estamos publicando en el periódico "ESTO", esta vez publicamos directamente para la página oficial de "TERRA" (noticias deportes y entretenimiento) y esta vez la realizamos en color, lo cual le da mucho mayor interes a la tira semanal. Hago el arte (lápiz y tinta) cada Domingo o Lunes para estar lista para el coloreado por parte de Mariana Moreno y la letra de Mauricio Cosío, todo esto durante 12 semanas, que es lo que dura la temporada de fútbol universitario (estaba bueno ¿no?). La parte difícil es diseñar la página pensando en las especificaciones que "TERRA" necesita para su página web, aun así le estoy dando más fuerza y expectacularidad a todas las jugadas a pesar del corto tiempo de producción que tenemos.

Todavía recuerdo que al final de la temporada del el segundo año de realización de la tira (2006) fuimos invitados a la ceremonia de premiación de la ONEFA, la cual, para mi sorpresa, fueron celebrados en el Queen Elizabeth School, mi antigüa escuela primaria y que tenía más de 20 años de no visitar. Ahí conocimos a todas las estrellas de fútbol que dibujé para la tira e incluso tuve el honor de conocer a Mauricio López Tyson, jugador de la NFL para los Centuriones de Colonia, Alemania, lugar donde curiosamente nací (¡que buenas coincidencias, ¿no?!).

These are some sketches and studies in different techniques of characters of "Green" a project we are developing in the ¡Ka-Boom! Estudio created by Mauricio Cosio and Drawn by me, a awesome comic full of magic, ecology and fun telling the stories of Kevin Green a young and unexperienced guy who is about to learn that true magic comes from within.

Estos son algunos sketches y estudios en diferentes técnicas de algunos personajes de "Green" un proyecto que se está desarrollando dentro de ¡Ka-Boom! Estudio el cual es creación de Mauricio Cosio y dibujado por mi, una increíble cómic lleno de magia, ecología y diversión que cuenta la historia de Kevin Green un joven e inexperto chico que está a punto de descubrir que la verdadera magia viene de el interior de uno mismo.

FAIRIES

I did this in my sketch book, I was making some investigation for the "Green" comic book project on fairies to design the Queen of fairies and so I ended up making all sorts them which, was very fun to do, I hope you all like them.

Hice estas hadas en mi cuaderno de bocetos, estaba realizando una investigación para el proyecto de cómic "Green" para desarrollar a la Reina de la hadas y termine inventando todo tipo de ellas, lo cual fue muy divertido para mi, espero sean del agrado de todos.

Mike Kunkel, animator and creator of the "Hero Bear and the Kid" comic book liked alot the finished art so I did an exchange of this original art with him for one of his, cool ha?

Gosh, I wish I had a room like this! ... I will!

Hace algunos años hice un proyecto de dos págs. para el Estudio de una historia de Mauricio Cosio (esta es la pág. #2). El trabajo que realicé fue mucho del agrado de Mike Kunkel, animador y artista de comic creador de "Hero Bear and the Kid", por lo que hice un intercambio del arte original por uno de los suyos, que bien no?!

Well... The King. This is a study I did for Reader's Digest of Elvis. Dough it never really made it to be published I had a great time in the process of making the caricature, the hair, eyebrows chin where really fun.

Pues... El Rey. Este es un estudio que realizé para de Reader's Digest de Elvis. Aunque nunca logro ser publicado me pase un gran tiempo en el desarrollo de la caricatura, el cabello, las cejas y la barbilla le dieron un toque característoco y muy divertido.
